Once the relationships between activities are set, the next step is scheduling your project plan. Scheduling involves Critical Path Method (CPM), which is basically using the Activities duration and the relationships to calculate your Activity schedule dates. Once the relationships between activities are set, the next step is scheduling your project plan. Scheduling involves Critical Path Method (CPM), which is basically using the Activities duration and the relationships to calculate your Activity schedule dates.

The calculation is done by two passes;

1) Forward Pass and

2) Backward Pass

Scheduling in Primavera is easy.

You can go to Tool and then select Schedule to schedule your project plan. A pop up will appear detailing the information as shown, (F9 is the shortcut)

Data Date is the date by which the calculations begin.

Caution: Calculations will not be accurate in the following cases;

1) Open Ended Activities: Activities without a Successor or Predecessor. So always place a Milestone if the Activities are not related.

2) Loops: If the Activity relationship is in a loop, Primavera will not be able to calculate using the Forward Pass or the Backward Pass.
